The Magical Fruit is a list of my personal reviews for the comics and manga within my collection. I have hopes to write up a brief summary, spoiler free, of each book as I complete it. Each of these reviews will contain my thoughts and opinions as well as a five-point star rating. This overall rating will indicate my level of enjoyment reading the book. The higher the rating, the more enjoyment there was reading it.

Here is a general guideline for what each star rating will mean and how I might have awarded the rating to the book:

The ratings breakdown
I want a refund!
★★ I should have read something else
★★★ That was meh…try something different?
★★★★ That was good! Next in this series?
★★★★★ You need to own this

These reviews will be listed by publisher and medium (e.g. comics vs manga) on this site. Therefore, if you want to see all reviews for books published by Marvel, you can do just that.

How often I will be able to post will greatly depend on the cadence in which I can read the books. As a fair warning, which book I read and review next will be very random and unpredictable. I rarely will read them in sequential order (e.g. Batman Vol 1 then immediately after Batman Vol 2). I often like to break things up, especially if the book I just finished was meh. Also, as a warning, the vast majority of my collection is collected edition comics. So you are going to see many many more reviews for comics and graphic novels than you will other stuff. Namely, I do have a very small collection of manga. I intend on reading and reviewing manga periodically when I feel the urge. I will also try to balance out the big two comic book publishers (Marvel & DC) with other books. After a bit superhero comics can start to wear on ya so may also want to break up the genres occasionally.

If you want to jump straight to the Crème de la crème, I would suggest reading the 5-star reviews that I’ve posted. Alternatively, if the latest hotness is more your style, feel free to peruse the featured reviews section. Otherwise, to see the larger list of reviews, you may want to visit the Reviews page.

As always, if you’d like to drop me a line, or tell me I’m way out of whack on a review, you can leave me a comment by visiting the Contact page. Anyway, I should probably get back to reading more comics. I have a long list to get through. Thanks for stopping by!
